For the past quarter of a century, The Undertaker has been
an apparatus in the WWE. Regarding life span and drawing power, there are not
very many if any that can coordinate The Deadman. WWE was amazingly that they
picked Mark Calaway to play the character in 1990. No one else could have made
it work other than him.
While The Undertaker has a standout amongst the most
well-told backstories in WWE history, there is almost no we think about the man
playing the character - Mark Calaway. Here are 5 things you without a doubt
didn't think about the man.
#1. He is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
While he may very well imagine when he sends his adversaries
to 'hellfire' in the WWE, the Undertaker is an authentic renegade, all things
considered, as well. He has been preparing under the amazing, Rolles Gracie,
for quite a while and was granted his dark belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2011.
In spite of the fact that he never made the hop to the UFC,
it is sheltered to state that he could have effectively done as such on the off
chance that he needed to. Toward the day's end, CM Punk got the chance to
battle in the UFC regardless of being only a blue belt in BJJ and with no other
combative techniques foundation to talk about.
The individuals who are normal watchers of the UFC will be
comfortable with seeing Calaway in the group amid the huge occasions. He even
prodded a battle with Brock Lesnar in 2010 when the two had an encounter at UFC
121.
#2. He had dreams of being a basketball player
Let's just say The Undertaker originally had plans of sharing a
court with Michael Jordan instead of sharing a ring with Stone Cold. He first
got into the sport when he was in high school and even managed to get a
scholarship at Angelina College for basketball.
He would later go on to play for Texas Wesleyan University and
dropped out to focus on the game full time. At one point in time, he even had
plans to go to Europe to pursue the sport. Luckily he got into wrestling before
going ahead with his plans of leaving for Europe and the rest, as they say, is
history.
#3. He is scared of cucumbers
Fell free to do a Stone Cold impressed
and go 'What?' after reading this one. Yes, the man who struck fear into the
hearts of his opponents over a quarter of a century really is scared of a
vegetable. If reading it feels weird, trust me, writing it is not any
different.
In an episode of his podcast, legendary
wrestling manager Bruce Prichard revealed about the irrational fear of
cucumbers that The Deadman has. He also went on to reveal how Owen Hart would
exploit this fear and put cucumbers into Taker's bags to spook him out. I'll
give you a moment to let all this sink in.
#4. He had his own backstage group
called the 'Bone Street Krew'
Throughout the years, The Kliq has
picked up reputation as the backstage group that used to run things in the WWE,
thinking back to the 90s. Something most fans don't know is that The Kliq was
not by any means the only backstage group in the WWE at the time.
The Undertaker had his very own group
known as the 'Bone Street Krew'. That is the thing that the notorious 'BSK'
tattoo on his stomach remains for. The gathering was made trying to handle the
developing impact the Kliq.
The gathering involved The Undertaker, Paul Bearer, Mr. Fuji,
Savio Vega, The Godfather, Yokozuna, Henry Godwinn, Mideon, Brian Adams,
Rikishi and James Harrison. Clearly, The Undertaker puts stock in amount over
quality.
#5. He wrestled as Mark Callous in WCW
before turning into The Undertaker in the WWE
Today it is difficult to consider Mark
Calaway as whatever else other than The Undertaker, however he had really
experienced various contrivances previously unearthing the Deadman character on
his landing in the WWE.
The Commando, 'Signify' Mark Callous,
Dice Morgan, The Master of Pain and Texas Red are simply of the names he passed
by before striking gold as The Undertaker. He was entirely WCW before
consistently making it to the WWE. However, his keep running as 'Signify' Mark
Callous was unmemorable to the point that the organization didn't have any
issue releasing him to the WWE after only a year.
It is protected to state that 'Signify' Mark Callous could never
proceed to have a two-decade-long winning streak at Wrestlemania.
